Email issues.. We all have them, but we certainly don't want them.
They make our lives miserable, but we can sort them out.
Fortunately 90% of email issues are operator errors. Meaning if your
email was functional – then it is probably still is. This is true
only if - you have not adjusted any of the email account settings in
your email software.
Questions you have to ask yourself when you have email issues:
1) When does the error happen?
2) Where does the error happen?
3) Is the recipient email address typed exactly correct?
4) If a bounce is received, look very carefully at the email
address. Is it correct?
5) Is the recipients email box full?? If the box is full you will
receive a bounce from most servers.
If the above questions are pondered, and the thought process is
correctly worked through – the email error if any should be found.
If this process does not find your error, and you have not modified
any email settings the problem may be deeper, and I would be happy
to help you troubleshoot the issue.
Other email Issue Helpers
“No Internet Connection.” The easiest fix to the obvious email error
is: Make sure your internet connection is okay. You will not be able
to retrieve your email if you do not have a good connection to the
internet. Re-establish your connection and try again. Call your ISP
(internet service provider) if necessary, or wait it out.
Reply to: Address
In your email software, make sure your reply to address is the same
email address that you are checking or at least the email address
that you want it to be.
incoming & outgoing mailservers
You should use: mail.yourdomain.com for both your incoming(POP3/IMAP)
and outgoing(SMTP) servers.
NOTE: 60% of ISP’s will not allow you
to use another SMTP server to send email. They will require you to
use their SMTP server setting. You will need to know this server
setting. To find out this server setting go to your isp’s website
and find out the server setting and then edit your SMTP setting in
your email account settings in your email program.
If you are having an email issue please contact support. If you have
had an issue in the past that you would like to share that you think
would help someone out, please feel free to do so.
Cheers,
Jen
